Early Years Expertise

 

Target has a team of early years practitioners who have together over a century’s experience of working with 0-5 year olds. This team was developed to provide advice and support to nurseries and kindergartens on the changes brought about by the new Early Years Foundation Stage orders. PAM HULSE is a widely respected and experienced advisor and former Head teacher on Merseyside. As a school-based practitioner she worked as a Head teacher and whilst working a deputy head at Halewood C of E was responsible for the Foundation Stage being accredited as excellent across the board by Ofsted. With her wealth of skills, knowledge and experience Pam still provides 3-5 years consultancy services to schools across Knowsley LEA and is an acknowledged expert in exemplary practice throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage.

LYNETTE KOBUS is an experienced early years teacher adviser working with Wirral LEA and the Surestart programme. She holds a B.A. and a Masters degree in Educational Psychology. She is also one of the first holders of the new Early Years Professional Qualification and the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership. Lynette specialises in providing training and consultancy for all aspects of Early Years Foundation Stage and also has the specialised knowledge of being an area SENCO for foundation stage.

SUE SMITH is an early years co-ordinator. She holds a BA in Early Years and is currently reading for her M.Ed. She is an experienced Foundation Stage co-ordinator who has turned an under achieving foundation department into a thriving learning community. Sue has just started on the EYP qualification. She specialises in introducing music to young children and can provide expert guidance in this and other areas.

TONY KOBUS holds a B.Ed (hons) and has worked across the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One. He has developed expertise in outdoor play provision and outdoor education. Tony is an experienced member of the Forest Schools Initiative and designer of outdoor environments for pre-school children. He can provide guidance on all aspects of play and learning and has particular interest in social development through role-play and the holistic approach to Foundation learning.

PHIL PURSLOW is a teacher, lecturer and former nursery manager and owner of the successful Whitecross Nursery.

Phil has acted as consultant to several new nursery projects. He has lectured on the M.Ed. courses at Hope University and the NVQ Childcare levels 2 and 3 at Knowsley College. He is currently researching Theory of Mind in 0-3 year olds and is developing new ways of teaching initial phonics in the foundation stage.
